Peacock 56 is the design most people picture when they hear "Polish pottery": rows of peacock eyes, each a cobalt ring around green and cream circles with a rust center, packed over a deep blue field, then a single outer ring of eyes on the cream rim with a slender green leaf pointing inward from each one. The leaves are what set 56 apart from the older, all-blue Cobalt Peacock 8; they open the pattern up and give it a touch of green.
It has been in continuous production at Zaklady Ceramiczne Boleslawiec for decades and is made in nearly every shape, so it is a safe pattern to build a full set in and the one most often chosen as a first piece. Every piece is hand-stamped, fired under a clear glaze, and safe for the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. See all patterns, or shop by shape starting with plates.
