Bowls 6.5 Inch Diameter

About Our 6.5" Polish Pottery Bowls

This is the bowl for meals that are the whole meal. It takes a big serving of soup or stew without threatening the rim, holds a restaurant-size portion of ramen or pho with the broth, and gives a main-course salad room to be tossed rather than pushed around. Like all Boleslawiec stoneware it is fired at about 1,250°C (2,280°F), so it keeps soup hot longer than thinner ceramics and stands up to years of dishwasher use without the pattern fading.

Size and specifications

Diameter: 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) across the rim. Height: about 3 inches [confirm]. Capacity: about 26 oz / 770 ml filled to the rim, 16 to 18 oz as a normal serving [confirm]. Weight: approximately 1.2 lb / 0.55 kg [confirm]. The bowls stack, and the 7.5" salad plate covers one as a lid in the refrigerator.

Which bowl size should I choose?

The 5 3/8" bowl is the traditional cereal bowl. The 6" bowl is the all-rounder for cereal and soup. This 6.5" bowl is for one-bowl meals and big appetites. The 9.5" soup plate is shallow and rimmed, for a formal setting. The 10" pasta bowl holds 64 oz and is a serving bowl. All of them come in the same patterns.

Choosing a pattern

The 6.5" bowls come in the same three families as the rest of the range. Traditional patterns such as Nature 41, Polka Dot 42, Peacock 56, Daisy Dreams 120, and Holly Berries 242 are the classic cobalt-on-cream designs and the most economical. Signature "a" patterns such as Floral Peacock 166a add extra colors and detail. Unikat and DU designs such as Floral Butterfly Unikat 149ar, Garden Meadow Unikat 296ar, Floral Garden Unikat 312ar, and Mosaic Flower DU60 are the artist series, signed by the decorator on the base. The pattern number is shared across every shape, so a bowl in 149ar matches a dinner plate, mug, and teapot in 149ar.

Care and use

Dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven safe to 480°F / 250°C [confirm], and freezer safe. Avoid sudden temperature changes and keep it off the stovetop and out from under the broiler. The glaze is lead- and cadmium-free and meets US food-safety standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 6.5" Polish pottery bowl hold?

About 26 oz filled to the rim, or a comfortable 16 to 18 oz serving of soup, chili, or salad.

Is the 6.5" bowl big enough for ramen or pho?

Yes. It is the largest individual bowl in the range and holds a full serving of noodles and broth. For a family-size serving bowl, see the 10" pasta bowl.

Can I put it in the oven and microwave?

Yes. Boleslawiec stoneware is oven, microwave, dishwasher, and freezer safe. Avoid sudden temperature changes and do not use it on a stovetop or under a broiler.

Does it match the plates and mugs?

Yes. The same pattern number is used across every shape, so a 6.5" bowl in 166a matches dinner plates, salad plates, and mugs in 166a.

Are the bowls sold individually or in sets?

Individually. Buy exactly the number you need and add more later; the patterns stay in production.
