Decorated in the Nature pattern (41), this fermenting crock comes from the Zaklady Ceramiczne Boleslawiec factory in Bolesławiec, Poland. Every motif is stamped and painted by hand, the traditional Boleslawiec technique, so small variations make each piece one of a kind.
The water-seal design lets fermentation gases escape while keeping air out, the traditional way to make sauerkraut and pickles. This piece holds 1.7 liter / 1.8 quart and stands 7.5" (with lid) tall.
The stoneware is dense and durable with a lead- and cadmium-free glaze, and the factory stamp on the base marks it as authentic Boleslawiec pottery.
