This French butter dish in the Garden Meadow Unikat pattern (296 Art) is handmade by Zaklady Ceramiczne Boleslawiec in Bolesławiec, Poland. Unikat is the factory's premium line: these designs carry far more hand-painted detail than the traditional patterns, and each piece takes considerably longer to decorate.
The French butter bell keeps butter soft and spreadable on the counter, sealed by a little water in the base. It holds 7 ½ oz, measures 4 ¼" across and stands 4 ¼" tall.
The stoneware is dense and durable with a lead- and cadmium-free glaze, and the factory stamp on the base marks it as authentic Boleslawiec pottery.
