Decorated in the Blue Diamond Dream pattern (217a), this fermenting crock comes from the Zaklady Ceramiczne Boleslawiec factory in Bolesławiec, Poland. The design is applied by hand with small sponge stamps and brushwork, so each piece varies slightly and no two are exactly alike.
The water-seal design lets fermentation gases escape while keeping air out, the traditional way to make sauerkraut and pickles. The fermenting crock holds 1.7 liter / 1.8 quart and stands 7.5" (with lid) tall.
The stoneware is dense and durable with a lead- and cadmium-free glaze, and the factory stamp on the base marks it as authentic Boleslawiec pottery.
